Singer Rain came back to stage with his 5th album 'Rainism'.
Singer Rain announced his come back with showing his 4 new songs from his 5th album 'rainism', including the title song 'rainism', 'love story', 'only you' and 'fresh woman' on MBC dream center located in Ilsan, Kyunggi province on 9th of October.
This come back of singer Rain has 2 big significant meanings. Rain who debuted Hollywood as an actor and as a world star who came back to Korean stage is the first point and the second point is that he declared independence from Jin-Young Park who nurtured Rain as a star and Rain produced his 5th album by himself which is very meaningful in terms of change.
Rain meant to depict intention to show the image of real video by his album title 'Rainism'. He also participated in actual lyric writing, composition and producing, otherwise he's really trying to stand on his own not only externally but internally in terms of music.
It's not an exaggeration that this is the second turning point as a singer ever since he debuted 7 years ago.
Rain's song and dancing was obviously different from his previous songs and dancing that were effected by Jin-Young Park for his past albums until the 4th.
If Rain's preexisting dancing songs stressed out minimal composition and melody instead of strong beat, his titile song 'rainism' was consist of powerful electronic beat with powerful voice which makes a big difference.
But the most significant one was his R&B style ballad song 'love story'. His new song 'love story' attracted much attention because of its music video that was done with actress Ji-Won Ha shows Rain's soulful voice that never existed in his previous albums. This song 'love story' might sound somewhat empty because of monotonous melody of piano but Rain supported this with his powerful voice.
Netizens who listened sound source of 'love story' expressed much compliments saying as "a song that's shining with Rain's voice", and this song was good enough to evoke impression from 1000 spectators since it was lively sang by Rain on his come back show on 9th.
Like this, Rain fully added all his abilities such as his powerful voice which is mid-low as well as his ability to understand his own emotional songs. If his preexisting albums can be regarded as they were focused on mid tempo style songs, then unlike them Rain fully used his voice ability in this album.
Stage performance can't be excluded for Rain. Rain's stage on that day looked more intense than before but it looked more flexible and relaxed compare to his previous stages since Rain took advice from famous American choreographer AJ and he directly originated his dancing. The title song 'rainism' stressed out beat instead of melody but Rain was singing with controlling the song itself by using props such as lightening cane.
If choreography of his previous songs only stressed out powerful aspect such as 'it's raining', choreography of title song of his new album has both power and style. Rain showed humorous dancing while singing his new song 'pretty woman' which is a funky style dancing song, saying "I can't make hard moves for my dancing since I'll be turning 30 soon." on his come back show on 9th.
Rain who produced his 5th album 'rainism' by accepting songs from mid level or amateur composers such as Tae-Wan Kim, Jin-Ryul Bae, V.O.S. Hyun-Joon Choi instead of taking famous composers.
Maybe this choice was possible since he's famous enough that he didn't really have to show the name of composer for his songs. But it's still a wonder that whether Rain's movement for this new change would approach his fans as something fresh or something inadequate.
