[18-Feb-2009] Rain Name Game SettledJeong Ji-hoon, the Korean pop star better known as Rain, recently settled a long-standing legal problem in the U.S.
In February 2007, Rain Corporation, which has managed the Beatles tribute band Rain – A Tribute To The Beatles since 1979, filed an intellectual property suit in Nevada District Court against Jeong, his management, JYP Entertainment, and concert coordinator Star M Entertainment over the use of his stage name.


Earlier this month both parties reportedly came to an agreement. From now on, Jeong will be known as
The Rain for all music-related endeavors in the United States.
The agreement does not prevent him from using the simpler moniker Rain outside of America. And
according to the HanCinema website, he will still be allowed to use Rain in film credits.
Ralph Schmidtke, who manages the Beatles tribute act, told Pollstar that although an agreement had been reached, he couldn’t confirm specifics.

The name dispute forced Jeong to cancel a June 2007 concert in Hawaii, which led to the promoter of the concert, Click Entertainment, filing a $40 million lawsuit against the singer for damages.
Jeong is scheduled to appear for the trial in Hawaii during the week of March 10. If he fails to show up,
he may be subject to an arrest warrant.

Click also filed a separate complaint against the same defendants in Korea, but the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office didn’t take up the charge, saying they found no evidence that the singer planned to
deceive the promoter.

Recently, Wachowski brothers could be in charge of new Superman series, hollywood movie, and Rain could participate in it with them.

Rain's agency J.Tune entertainment made their position clear about this, "We've never heard about Wachowski' next film, but if we are offered, we'll positively examine the proposal."

가수 겸 배우 비(정지훈)가 할리우드 워쇼스키 형제 감독과 또 다시 공동작업을 펼칠 것인지 여부에 관심이 쏠리고 있다.

최근 할리우드에서 래리-앤디 워쇼스키 형제 감독이 ‘슈퍼맨’ 시리즈의 새 작품을 맡을 것 같다는 관측이 나오면서 이들과 두 작품을 함께 한 비도 참여할 수도 있지 않겠느냐는 기대감이 커지고 있다.

미국의 에인트잇쿨닷컴 등 여러 영화전문 유명 사이트들은 비의 할리우드 첫 주연작 ‘닌자 어새신’의 제임스 맥테이그 감독이 독일 TV와 가진 인터뷰를 소개했다. 이에 따르면 제임스 맥테이그 감독은 “워쇼스키 형제가 ‘슈퍼맨’ 시리즈의 새로운 작품을 연출할 수도 있다”고 말했다.

한국 팬들의 관심을 끄는 것은 바로 워쇼스키 형제와 비의 공동작업 여부다. 비는 2007년 첫 할리우드 진출작 ‘스피드 레이서’를 통해 워쇼스키 형제 감독과 인연을 맺었다. 워쇼스키 형제는 비의 연기력에 만족, 자신들이 제작하고 제임스 맥테이그 감독이 연출한 ‘닌자 어새신’에 기용했다.

연예계 일각에서는 워쇼스키 형제 감독의 ‘슈퍼맨’ 새 시리즈물 연출 여부가 비의 향후 할리우드 활동 일정에도 영향을 미칠 것으로 보고 있다.

만일 이들이 연출을 맡으면 그동안 비와 쌓아온 인연을 바탕으로 공동작업도 추진하지 않겠느냐는 희망어린 관측이 제기되고 있는 것.

이에 대해 비의 소속사 제이튠 엔터테인먼트 관계자는 “워쇼스키 감독의 차기작에 대해서 들어보지 못했다”면서 “만약 출연 제안이 온다면 비에게도 좋은 기회이니 적극 검토하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 비의 주연작 ‘닌자 어새신’은 미국에서 첫 시사회 후 좋은 평가를 받았다. 미국 영화전문 사이트 IMDB 게시판에는 ‘닌자 어새신’을 본 누리꾼의 평가가 올라오고 있다.

아이디 ‘MercenaryKid’인 누리꾼은 “그야말로 궁극의 액션영화다. 빨리 극장에서 개봉했으면 좋겠다”고 감상평을 남겼다.

또 다른 누리꾼 ‘Red Yahsar’은 “이 영화는 내게 2009년판 ‘다크 나이트’다. 제임스 맥테이그의 전작 ‘브이 포 벤데타’도 좋았지만 이 영화는 그보다는 좀 가볍고 더 액션에 치중한 영화이다”고 적었다.

‘닌자 어새신’은 프랑스에서 7월29일 개봉하며, 미국 개봉은 정해지지 않았다. 비는 현재 ‘닌자 어새신’ 후반작업을 위해 독일 베를린에 머물고 있다.

Just got this article in a text message about an hour ago.

Rumor Killer: The Wachowski Brothers NOT Offered Superman Reboot
Remember that report that showed up on AICN last week claiming that The Wachowski Brothers had been offered a reboot of Superman? Sorry to get you guys all excited but I have just gotten confirmation from two independent sources that the report was completely false. I don’t know if an interview with James McTeigue actually aired on RTL1 or not (I’m guessing not) but The Wachowski Brothers have definitely never had any talks with DC or Warner Bros to helm a Superman film. This is confirmed.
