Korean top star Rain will appear on Discovery, the world-renowned cable channel, J.Tune Entertainment announced Friday.
Documentary ``Hip Korea'' will focus on Korea's pop culture and introduce the singer as its frontrunner. His agency stated that the documentary is to air in various countries from Jan 31, starting first in Australia and New Zealand and then Asia.
The Hip Korea crew filmed the star for six months, and the documentary reveals his down-to-earth lifestyle, including clips of Rain casually conversing with his close friend, entertainer Kim Jae-dong about his innermost feelings over a drink and reminiscing his departed mother at her crypt.
The documentary has interviews with stars who have worked with the singer in the past, including Steven Colbert, who had a dance battle with the star on his show ``The Colbert Report,'' and actress Susan Sarandon, who co-starred with Rain in the movie ``Speed Racer.''
``Hip Korea'' is to air in all regions in Asia, including Korea, on Feb. 23.

Rain Bi 비 Unveils ‘Six to Five’ Fashion Line

Wildly popular Korean pop singer Rain has launched his own fashion line, called Six to Five. He introduced the
collection with a fashion show in Ilsan, which was attended by celebrities and fans alike.“Six to Five means that we are aiming to reach the sixth sense from our original five senses. I also wanted to use
numbers to make it easier to find and comfortable to approach”, he said.
“I think it’s a bit unreasonable to call myself a designer. I never learned the trade professionally, but I did try to
analyze the clothes I enjoy wearing and feel comfortable in. I volunteered as a designer, thinking the public may
understand my views,” he said.
The fashion show displayed many different items, including leather boots, denim shorts and cute tops and jackets. As Rain said, the overall style was casual and practical, with a hint of edginess shown through the use of bold
colors and accessories like hats, belts and shoes.
Six to Five will start business in Korea in February and then expand elsewhere in Asia and then Europe and the
United States.

[Newsen]가수 비, 4년만에 드라마 복귀 신중히 검토중
가수 비(본명 정지훈)가 올해 국내 드라마로 안방극장에 컴백할 가능성이 높아지고 있다.
비의 연기자 복귀 여부는 지난해 하반기부터 꾸준히 방송가의 이슈로 떠오르며 구체적인 컴백설이 나돌았다. 하지만 비는 지난해 10월 '레이니즘'을 발표하고 가수로 왕성한 활동을 펼치며 연기자로의 컴백은 잠시 연기했다.
하지만 올해 중 비가 드라마로 국내 팬들과 만날 가능성이 커지고 있다. 한 측근은 "비가 지난해 국내 드라마에 출연하려 했지만 일정 등이 맞지 않아 미뤄졌다. 올해 중 연기자로 컴백할 가능성이 높다"고 전했다.
비는 2006년 말 개봉한 영화 '싸이보그지만 괜찮아'(감독 박찬욱) 이후 국내 연기활동을 중단했다. 또 KBS 2TV 드라마 '이 죽일 놈의 사랑'(이죽사) 이후 4년만에 안방극장 복귀를 노린다.
'이 죽일 놈의 사랑' 작가인 이경희 작가의 차기작에 비가 출연한다는 소문이 여의도 방송가 일각에서 나돌았다.
이경희 작가는 최근 뉴스엔와의 인터뷰에서 "아직 구체적으로 결정된 것이 없다. 비와는 가끔 개인적인 친분으로 연락을 하고 지낸다"고 밝혀 향후 행보가 주목된다.
지난해 하반기 이경희 작가의 차기작으로 거론된 작품에 비의 출연 가능성이 제기됐지만 가수 컴백 준비로 인해 미뤄진 상태다.
비는 현재 국내 외주제작사들로부터 받은 드라마 기획안(시놉시스) 및 대본 일부를 신중히 검토하고 있는 것으로 전해졌다.
한편, 비는 올 여름 두번째 할리우드 출연작 '닌자 어쌔신'의 전세계 개봉을 앞두고 있다.
