08.14.09 [fan acct] Catching Rain in the Qingdao Beer Festival

Catching Rain in the Qingdao Beer Festival – Fan Account
This was the first time when I was able to greet our prince upon his arrival, saw his performance, stayed in the same hotel as he did, bid him farewell when he left – all at close shots.
There were about 50-60 fans waiting at the arrival hall already when I joined them on 14 August. After a while a man came out to tell us that Rain would come out shortly. He would walk slowly so that we could greet him, but he asked us not to give Rain any gift, because it might create chaos.

Soon after, Rain came out in green tee and black shorts. He had a large headphone – not sure if he is listening to music or whether he used this to shield the noise of our shouts (his “prince syndrome” again happy.gif). He didn’t look quite as tall as I expected, probably because he was surrounded by huge bodyguards. My eyes were fixed on him – the colour of his face was not as “fair” as I saw him at the Macau airport, again probably because of the green T and because of the light. He has slimmed down and is in fantastic shape! His walking slowly equaled to us running after him and I totally missed him getting into the BMW.
I had not bothered to find out which floor, which room Rain was staying. It turned out – I learned all these from other fans – he came in and out from the underground parking and this was how he spent the day: no rehearsal at the stadium (only the dancers were there). Went for foot massage followed by dinner. He asked the waitress to give him a bowl quickly cos he wanted to eat quickly!! And then the performance.
I was in the fans zone right in front of the stage. With some luck I even managed to have better seats on the spot!
After 2 hours and 17 minutes wait (I checked my watch constantly) and after so many false alarms (guests not on the list appearing, security guards moving around) our prince finally appeared on stage!
His outfit was similar in style to the MKMF 2098 Still Rain performance, but the jacket was a beige/greenish colour. I think he was in better shape too – he has slimmed down obviously. The muscles on his arms were firm and strong, but not too robust. When he performed “Rainism”, his dance was powerful but light. He “flirted” with us when he sang “I Do” with his killer smiles and cute expressions. Whenever he moved across the stage, I followed him and moved too – the young security guard just gave up on me.
He then addressed the audience in Chinese: “Hello Everybody, this is Rain”… “I Love You”. And then his sang “It’s Raining”. A usual superb performance of course, but Rain always adds details – which shows he is truly a caring person and which reflects his professionalism. Towards the end of the song, Rain raised his hand, saying, “We love you”, then knelt down on one knee, bowed down his head, touched the ground and said “Qingdao”. I hope the Qingdao people can remember this gesture – this is Rain paying tribute to Qingdao and its people – through his performance.
I waited at the hotel lobby later that night, saw a couple of fans there as well, but there was no sight of our prince. I decided he and I both deserved a good rest….
The next morning (15 August) when I arrived at the airport, I saw his dancers smoking outside. Inside the departure hall about 20-30 fans were waiting. We were joined later by many airline staff, both female and male, who obviously also wanted to catch a glimpse of the world star.
While we were waiting, two fans told us that they saw Rain in the hotel, wearing a red casual jacket, black tee with silver/white patterns, and a tight black short. They described in vivid details how the tight black short showed off the prince’s very firm, bouncy hip…
Then the BMW approached. We lined up in two parallel lines, making a passage way for the prince to pass. He looked much taller to me this time than when he arrived. I couldn’t see much of him beyond his chest because of the crowd, and I have to pace up to catch up with him. I shouted out “Rain, Hong Kong loves you” – I thought he smiled towards my side of the line. I shouted “ See you in Japan” – I thought he nodded. I shouted “See you in L.A., then in Hong Kong again” but those huge bodyguards blocked my view of him. We saw him entering the gate, we called his name, and he turned and waved to us all before disappearing inside…
I have a title for my Qingdao trip – “Close Encounter of the Third Kind”. No, I should say this is the prologue only, because I want to have many, many more such close encounters!!
