"D-1": Rain updates fans on his activities the day before his enlistment

On October 10th, Rain updated his fans on 'D-1', the final day before his army enlistment. After putting up a photo, Rain wrote, "I guess such is my life even until the day before I have to enlist. I visited my mother's grave before going to edit the recordings from my concert.  It will air through Mnet the night after I enlist.  I ask that you all catch it live." Rain performed at his final concert, 'Last of the Best', yesterday at the 'Kangnam Hallyu Festival'.  He will be enlisting on October 11th as an active duty soldier.

Actress Shin Se Kyung chose Rain as having the best body among her many co-actors.

On September 9th, on MBC‘s ‘Section TV Entertainment‘, Shin Se Kyung was asked who she thought had the best body among her fellow stars in the movie, ‘Emergency‘.  Her immediate response, “Rain“.

While co-actor Kim Sung Soo was hoping to get chosen, she stated, “It’s not Kim Sung Soo“.

[10-Oct-11][Yonhap News]Rain gives his last performance with more than 20,000 people all across Asia gathering before his entering the army.




More than 20,000 fans all across Asia gathered together to watch Ran's performance.
The Rain that saturated autumn fell on the Youngdong Grand Boulevard. 
 
Rain appeared on his last stage all along the Youngdong Grand Boulevard in Seoul's Gangnam District on the afternoon of the 9th, ahead of his entering the army.  
 
Rain expressed his feelings while rehearsing under the autumn sky that was so blue and high before his performance, 'Last of the Best', "This is the first time for me to give a street performance after my debut..I'm so excited to make precious memories, interacting with the citizens."

While the seven-lane boulevard was closed down for about two hours, his fans from all over Asia, including Korea, congregated to watch his performance.

Some of them had even been hanging out near the boulevard to get the best seats since 2 o'clock pm when the rehearsal was in the hopper.


Rain performed his hit songs over the past decade for two hours. He presented his fans 'Rainism', 'How to Avoid the Sun', 'I'm Coming' and more, including his debut song 'Bad Guy', with his powerful dance moves.

In attendance, there were swimming star 'Park Tae Howan', idol group MBLAQ, the cast of 'Flight : Close to the Sun' starring Rain, etc. including passing tourists from Asia such as Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, China and elsewhere. Even people who enjoyed the holiday, stopped walking and watched his performance, cheering loudly.
 
During the free outdoor performance on the day, there were 10,000 each of those who took seats in front of the stage and those who jammed on both sides of the boulevard, so 20,000 total. (statistics collected by Gangnam District).
 
Also, both more than 80 police officers and 90 exemplary taxi drivers were directing traffic around the site, and more than 150 from two police squadrons and ambulance service were prepared for every eventuality.
 
Rain who hit the stage amidst hearty cheers "Jung Ji Hoon, Jung Ji Hoon!", greeted them as if it was embarrassing, "I had my hair cut yesterday..Because I have to enter the army..This is the first time I've had my hair cut in this style since my middle-school years."
 
Continuing, "Time flies very fast and it has already been 10 years since I debuted. I think life is like a freeway. A car next to me can go faster than I, but if I drive fast to cast behind his or her car, I may create traffic hazard.
Even though you may be behind your competitors in terms of fulfilling that destiny, please don't be frustrated and don't be too downhearted."
 
And, he added, "Now I try to drop by a kind of motorway service station. I think I'll have to do a lot of work there. I'll be back after working hard there."
 
Rain who left the stage after the concert concluded with an ending song, reappeared to perform his hit songs such as 'It's Raining' and 'Instead of saying goodbye' and more when the venue erupted in cheers, "Encore!"
 
Then he took out a handwritten letter and read it, saying "I couldn't fall asleep so I wrote a letter." After giving thanks to his fans, Rain said farewell to them, "I try to become a real man. I've come to have time to refresh myself. Entering the army at my age makes me embarrassed and sorry, but I'll return the maturing 'Jung Ji Hoon'."
 
This concert was held as part of 'Gangnam Haryu Festival'. Rain named an honorary ambassador for Gangnam District, was the first to offer to hold the concert, which attracted attention.
 
His concert was originally going to be held on the Dosan Grand Boulevard, but the venue was changed on the Yongdong Grand Boulevard to avoid the traffic.
 
Meanwhile, Rain'll be on the active list by being called into 306 replacement depot in Eujungbu, Kyungki-do region, upcoming October 11th.

The night in Busan was heated up this year again. Movie fans and crowds gathered here and there in Busan catching up and enjoying themselves. The stars were no exception and many were spotted with drinks in their hands all over the city.

"My Way"'s Jang Dong-gun, Joe Odagiri and director Kang Je-gyu found the street vendor area after the opening ceremony on October 6th. The three drank soju all night and talked endlessly. Fans and citizens who were surprised by the bodyguards that appeared out of nowhere, were surprised again by Jang Dong-gun and Joe Odagiri.

Rain had a farewell party with Jang Geun-seok and other actors in a street vendor area as well on October 11th, while he was in Busan for the press release conference of "Flight: Close to the Sun". Ko Soo, Jeong Seok-won and others were with him.

Song Hye-kyo, whose career is active again, also spent some relaxing time at a street food stall on October 8th with popular Hallyu star Jang Geun-seok. He didn't care about the eyes on him and even did the 'shuffle dance'.

Singer and actor Rain showed up at the Busan International Film Festival for the last time as an actor before he joined the army.

He attended the press release conference on October 7th at Haeundae Sinsegae Mall with director Kim Dong-won, Yoo Joon-sang, Sin Se-kyeong, Kim Sung-soo, Lee Ha-na, Jeong Seok-won and more.

This is his final official event as an actor before he joins the military on October 11th.

"Flight: Close to the Sun" is about the dreams and love youths have on their airplanes and a situation where a North Korean MIG comes over to the South. Coming soon in the beginning of 2012.

The global star Rain has recently wrapped up his very last performance before entering the military.



On October 9, 7PM in Seoul, the singer/movie star gave away a powerful performance in his “Last of the Best” concert.

He showed off his haircut for the very first time to his fans and started this 2-hour concert with his hit single “Hip Song” and continued with the singles “How to Avoid the Sun” “Love Story” “Busan Lady” “Love Song” “I’m Coming” “Rainism” and many others, combined with very powerful dance moves.




After singing the first three songs, Rain welcomed his fans by asking them, “My hair is pretty, right?” and continued, “If I do not put any styling products in my hair, I look like the top of a chestnut. This is the first time that I have this kind of hair style after high school.” He thanked his fans for coming by saying, “Very important people are present here today, you.”

His performance was filled with these kind of jokes and he was very interactive with his fans. During the song “My Woman”, he pulled one of his female fans on the stage and dedicated this love song to her. Before singing “My Way”, he expressed his feelings towards his enlistment by saying, “It has been ten years since my debut. Time really flies by and it feels like a lot of things have happened. I think that life just feels like a highway and I think that your cars are meant for great destinies.” He continues speaking of his car metaphor by saying, “I will work hard to make my car greater for the future. My car has driven many miles, perhaps too many and that is why I have to rest at the gas station. Even there, I will make sure that I will work hard.”


He continued his speech, “I could not fall asleep last night and decided to write a letter” and showed his fans the mentioned letter.

“Ten years have passed by since my debut. Your cheering and support have made my dreams come true and even in depressed times, just when I felt that I wanted to give everything up, your support gave me the strength to continue and move on. I will become a real man now. I will now get some time to reflect on my own life. There has been some delay and I am very ashamed of that. I want to thank my loyal fans who have stood by me for ten years and I will promise them that I will come back as a better Jung Ji Hoon (his real name). I really want to thank everybody, my fans and family, who have believed in me until now.”
The concert was held in the middle of Gang Nam Seoul and 20.000 people gathered to support their idol. Not only fans were here to enjoy the show, but also 100 policemen, 100 drivers and 500 volunteers were there to experience the “Rainism”.
Rain will begin his military service on October 11. Let us all wish him good luck and wait for his return!

Q : Your being picked as TIME's top 100 most influential entertainers in the world two times, garnered a lot of attention.
Rain : When I first went to New York to attend the Time100 ceremony, that was unforgettable, like a scene from a film. There were numerous celebrities such as Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Puffy Diddy, Jay-Z and more.
