촬영에 앞서, 가속도 내성 강화훈련을 받았던 것이 기억에 남습니다.
조종을 하기 위해서는 평소보다 더 높은 중력을 견뎌야 한다고 들었거든요.
거기서 9G를 견뎠죠. 자신의 몸무게 9배를 견뎠다고 보시면 돼요.
고통스러웠지만 그냥 이를 악물고 꽉 참았습니다. 그런 경험들이 있어야 영화를 찍을 때,
실제 조종사들처럼 연기를 할 수 있다고 생각했습니다.

이들이 야심차게 준비한 영화 R2B는 과연 어떤 영화일지 잠시 소개해 봅니다.

1. 올 여름을 시원하게 시켜줄 액션, R2B는?


올 여름, 화려한 공중액션으로 영화관을 찾은 관객들의 여름을 시원하게 만들어줄 영화가 있습니다.
바로 김동원 감독이 연출하고 정지훈, 신세경, 유준상, 이하나 등이 출연하는 입니다.
휴전선 인근 상공에 정체 모를 미그 29기가 출현해
대한민국의 심장 서울이 공격받을 위험에 처한 상황!
그래서 이들을 막기 위해 비상출격에 나서는 전투조종사들과 정비팀, 레스큐팀 대원들의 끈끈한 전우애가
이 영화에 담겼다고 하는데요.
특히 대한민국 공군의 전폭적인 지원을 통해
R2B 출연배우들은 사전 비행교육, 시뮬레이션, 비행훈련 등 실제 조종사와 똑같은 훈련을 받으며 연기를 준비했고,
특히 실제 F-15K 전투기가 영화에 등장하여
비행장면의 리얼리티를 더해 작품의 완성도를 높인 영화입니다

영화의 제목 는 “Return to Base”를 의미하는 단어로써 영화에서는 비밀임무가 담긴 작전명으로 통합니다.
임무를 완수하는 동시에 “반드시 살아 돌아올 것”이라는 명령을 받은 조종사들의 활약과
그들의 무사귀환을 바라는 동료들의 간절함이 담겨있는 제목이기도 합니다.

감독 김동원

촬영에 앞서 감독인 저를 포함해, 주요 배우들이 실제 조종사들의 훈련과정을 체험했던 일이,
그 중에서도 가속도 내성 강화훈련을 경험해 본 게 특히 기억에 남습니다.
주연인 정지훈 씨의 경우 9G까지 도전해 거뜬히 견뎌냈는데,
힘든 고난도의 훈련을 자처하며 캐릭터에 몰입하는 뜨거운 열정에 모두 박수를 보냈습니다.
영화 촬영이라는 게 워낙 변수가 많다보니 현장에서 그때그때 변경하고 추가해야 하는 것이 참 많았습니다.
공군본부와 해당 부대에서 그런 부분들을 너그럽게 잘 이해해주셔서 무사히 촬영을 마칠 수 있었는데,
협조해 주신 모든 분들게 이 자리를 빌려 진심으로 감사하다는 말씀을 전하고 싶습니다.

영화의 오프닝은 블랙이글스의 화려한 에어쇼로 시작됩니다.
블랙이글스 지상촬영은 블랙이글스의 모기지, 제8전투비행단에서 이뤄졌습니다.
또한 F-15K의 실제 비행 영상도 담았는데요, F-15K의 저고도 임무가 소백산 상공에 있던 날.
전 스태프들은 카메라와 장비를 바리바리 들고 소백산 '정상'까지 올라가야 했다고 합니다.

헬기촬영은 항공구조사들이 있는 6전대에서 이뤄졌습니다.
조종사와 항공구조사들의 적극적인 지원으로 실전을 방불케하는 장면들을 카메라에 담을 수 있었는데요.
세트장촬영은 로봇팔로 움직이는 조종석을 만들어 배우들의 세부적인 표정을 촬영했습니다.
이를 위해 F-15K와 MiG-29 등의 조종석이 실제 만들어졌죠.
360도로 회전하는 좁은 조종석 안에서 배우들은
“이렇게 조종사들이 힘들게 비행하는지 몰랐다”라면서 혀를 내둘렀답니다.
