The festival's motto this year is “East Meets West.” This theme was optimally met during the evening hosted by MCM. The well-known cellist and artistic director Jan Vogler began the evening by playing Bach. Afterwards the sold-out Semper Opera morphed into a stadium: when Rain appeared on stage, the venerable opera house rocked with the pop sounds of the Korean star and reverberated with the screams of his fans, who had journeyed to Dresden from the four corners of the world to experience their idol live on stage.

Rain is Asia’s best-known star and has won first place in Time Magazine’s “People to Watch” list on several occasions. Taking the opera house by storm in his German debut, Rain impressively demonstrated his talents. A video installation introduced his act by showing the interplay between him and Vogler with footage of their first meeting. This was followed by collaborative pieces featuring Rain and Vogler in a dynamic stage show that united the best of the Orient and the Occident.

Additional attention was attracted by the MCM cello case which was made expressly for Jan Vogler and the MCM sneakers which Rain and his background dancers wore during their performance.

비·박진영, 여전한 우애 과시 "사랑해"·"온천가자"

가수 비와 가수 겸 프로듀서 박진영이 여전한 우애를 과시했다.

박진영은 지난 30일 오전 11시께 자신의 트위터를 통해 "어제 팬미팅은 정말 말로 표현하기 힘들만큼 벅차고 감동적이었어요. 고마워요. 너무 오랜만이었죠? 미안해요. 앞으론 좀 더 자주 할게요! 먼 길 와주신 분들 다시 한 번 너무 고마워요. 사랑합니다. 여러분"이라는 글을 올렸다.

이에 비는 트위터를 통해 "형 나도 사랑해요!"라는 답글을 달며 호응했다.

이후 박진영은 31일 오후 6시께 "니가 중국에 있는 바람에 못보고 가네. 아쉽다. 8월 일본공연 겹쳐서 너무 좋아. 지난번 둘이 갔던 그 온천 꼭 다시가자"라며 여전한 우애를 과시했다.

네티즌들은 "두 분 사이좋은 모습이 정말 보기 좋습니다", "8월에 회포 푸시겠네요", "두 훈남의 온천 행, 저도 가고 싶어요!"라는 반응을 보였다.

한편 비는 오는 10월 JYP 엔터테인먼트와의 계약이 만료될 예정이다.

[31-May-11][allkpop/Star News]Rain to become a free agent after contract expires in October

With his military enlistment looming ahead of him, singer/actor Rain will have to face some major career decisions. It’s been revealed that his exclusive contract with his agency will expire in a few months.

On May 31st, a representative of Rain revealed,

“Rain’s exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment, which is run by J.Y. Park, will expire in October. This is different from his first contract… Whether Rain will be renewing his contract or looking for a new agency has not yet been decided. Once his contract expires, Rain plans to enlist in the military by December.“

Initially, Rain had planned to enlist early last year, but after being cast in KBS2TV’s drama “Fugitive“, he requested the Military Manpower Administration to defer his enlistment to this year.

He is currently in the midst of filming for his new movie, however, nothing has been decided regarding possible album promotions.

On May 30th at 11am, J.Y. Park tweeted, “Yesterday’s fan meeting was so heartfelt and touching that it is hard to express with words. It’s been too long, right? I’m sorry. From now on, I will have them more often! Again, thank you so much for everyone who traveled so far. I love you, everyone.”

Rain replied, “Hyung, I love you, too!”

Later, J.Y. Park responded to Rain and said, “Because you are in China, I won’t be able to see you before I leave. That’s disappointing. I’m so happy that our Japan concerts in August are overlapping. Let’s definitely go to that spa we went to last time.”

Netizens commented, “It’s good to see the close relationship between the two of you”, “Looks like you will get to catch up in August”, and “Two lovable men at the spa, I want to go too!”

Singer Rain (Jeong Ji-hoon) finishes contract with his management before entering the army.

Rain's management revealed on the 31st to Star News, "Rain's contract with JYP Entertainment run by Park Jin-young will be over in October. They're following the minimum agenda".

"Rain hasn't decided if he will re-sign with JYP or go somewhere else. After the contract is over, Rain will be admitted to the national service within December".

Primarily, Rain was supposed to join the army at the beginning of this year but because of the drama "The Fugitive Plan B" he postponed it to this year.

Currently he is filming the movie "Flight: Close to the Sun" and other details of his singing activities haven't been decided yet.
