RAIN DROPS: Hawai'i Rain fans -he's the South Korean superstar of K-pop and films-
continue to be loyal in spite of his Aloha Stadium concert cancellation here nearly two
years ago. Geri Mehrtens (rainhawaiiancloud@yahoo.com) is one of the big Rain rooters
rallying around "Ninja Assassin," which stars Rain, and she's calling for fans to gather
en masse at 7 pm Nov. 25 at the Ward Theatres for a film screening.
Hawaiian Cloud fan clubbers are purchasing advance tickets; e-mail Mehrtens by
Thursday to join the hoopla, since "Ninja" and Rain collectibles will be given away as
prizes.
Fans are hoping Rain falls Christmas time in Las Vegas - unconfirmed rumors persist that
he'll perform Dec. 24 and 25 at Caesars Palace. ...

11.15.09 Rain satisfied with Ninja Assassin
The Asian pop star Rain appeared recently at a hotel in Seoul to promote his second movie, Ninja Assassin. At the news conference he revealed just how hard it was to prepare for his role the world’s most deadly man.
Dressed conservatively in a grey suit, Rain says he was very satisfied after his first viewing of the movie. He’s pleased that he completely liberated himself from the mannerisms of a singer.
The 27 year old Rain worked out strenuously to build up his body for the action thriller in which he plays the world’s most deadly killer. He says it was so harsh that at times he thought of giving up and going back to just singing.
Last year, Rain made his Hollywood debut in the movie Speed Racer. It met with a cool reception from critics and failed to do well at the box office, but the production won praise from Speed Racer’s directors, the Wachowski brothers. Ninja Assassin is the Korean pop star’s debut as the lead in a Hollywood production.

Caesars Palace has reportedly booked Asian megastar Rain at the Colosseum theater on Dec. 24-25. The South Korean-born star, whose real name is Jeong Ji-hoon, will star in James McTeigue’s new film, “Ninja Assassin,” set for release Nov. 25. Rain is one of the first Asian pop singing stars who has a large fan base beyond Asia.

The stunt choreography, designed by Wachowski film vets Chad Stahelski and Dave Leitch along with their mentor Noon Orsatti, is a stunning mix of traditional and modern film fighting techniques that together will appeal to fans of the genre who have been waiting to see something like this on screen. Some of the techniques that Chad and David used include: Free-Running, Tumbling and Parkour (the art of movement). They didn’t rely on CG, they physically did all of the stunts.
Korean pop megastar Rain stars as Raizo, a renegade assassin trained to kill by Lord Ozunu, the merciless leader of a secret society of ninjas. Lord Ozunu is played by veteran martial arts actor Sho Kosugi (“Revenge of the Ninja”), who starred in and choreographed numerous classic ninja films of the 1980s. Rick Yune (“Fast and the Furious” and “Die Another Day“) stars as Raizo’s rival, Takeshi, and Europol researcher Mika Coretti is played by Naomie Harris (“Pirates of the Caribbean” and “28 Days Later”).
