비, '닌자어쌔신' 뉴욕 타임스퀘어에 우뚝

가수 겸 배우 비(본명 정지훈)이 미국 뉴욕 타임스퀘어에 등장했다.

비 소속사 제이튠엔터테인먼트 측은 23일 "최근 뉴욕에 거주하는 한국인의 제보로 비가 주연한 영화 '닌자 어쌔신'의 대형 전광판이 뉴욕 타임스퀘어에 걸린 사실을 확인했다"며 "많은 웹사이트를 통해 '한국인으로서 무척 자랑스럽다'는 축하글이 쇄도하고 있다"고 밝혔다.

제이튠엔터테인먼트 측은 "삼성이나 LG 등 한국 기업들이 전광판을 통해 타임스퀘어에 광고를 한 적은 있지만 한국 배우가 할리우드 영화에 출연해 광고로 모습을 드러낸 건 처음"이라며 "또한 최근 CNN을 통해 박지성과 함께 한국인의 대표임을 인정받아 더욱 뿌듯하다"고 소감을 전했다.

'닌자 어쌔신' 전광판은 약 가로 18m, 세로 12m 크기로 주연인 비의 역동적인 모습을 담아 뉴욕 시민들 및 방문객들의 시선을 사로잡고 있다.

한편 '닌자 어쌔신'은 오는 25일(미국 현지시각) 전세계 개봉을 앞두고 있다.

Rain takes over Times Square

A billboard of Rain’s new film "Ninja Assassin" has been hung in New York’s Times Square, making him the first Korean to appear on the board for a movie, according to his agency. 

Only Korean companies such as Samsung or LG have been able to advertise themselves in Times Square before.

J.Tune Entertainment said that the billboard — almost 18 meters wide by 12 meters high — was hung above smaller billboards for some of Broadway’s most famed musicals including "West Side Story" and "Chicago".

The agency said they were informed of the billboard by a Korean residing in New York and received many congratulatory messages on his blog and website.

The film is scheduled to be released on November 25, 2009.

[Oct-23-2009]The world's first electric sports cars will be named by the name of Rain.

Korea's CT&T and UK's Rotters, which specialize in making electric vehicles and sports cars respectively, have announced a joint venture to develop electric sports cars dedicated to short range.

If they succeed in developing, the world's first electric vehicles which assume the form of low speed for low cost , will be offered.

The CT&T side expressed as, "If we can finalize plans to develop such cars as planned, it has been informally arranged that the Rain named after singer Rain, who is the publicity ambassador promoting CT&T, should be named."

Separately, CT&T has signed 400 million dollar contracts with companies from several countries, such as Japan's NAFCA, Japan's Sibaura group, America's 2AM group, America's MVP group, America's EVI group, Canada, and Taiwan's Youngpoong group, to supply 3000 electric cars, 1000, 7000, 5000, 5000, 5000, and 2000 electric cars respectively.

Menawhile, Rain participated in Tokyo Motor Show to promote CT&T specializing in making electric vehicles on October 22.

MBLAQ’s Lee Joon talks about acting in Ninja Assasin

 

It has only been about two weeks since Rain's first boy band, MBLAQ debuted. They're currently rockin' the kpop scene & have no trouble with popularity & recognition, which is only to be expected as the world star as their producer. Many of you have probably heard of Rain's new Hollywood movie Ninja Assassin, which has been discussed for quite a while now. It was also confirmed that Lee Joon, a vocalist in MBLAQ, also played a role in the movie as the teen version of Raizo (Rain's character).

Lee Joon had auditioned for the movie back in February, when he was a trainee. He stated, "I sent a PR demo tape of my acting to the agency that was promoting Ninja Assassin. I didn't expect to get accepted at all, but I found out that I passed the auditions! After I got the message, I went to Germany right after. The filming was two months long, and I had to film many action scenes and had to speak in English. I acted as the younger counterpart of Ji-hoon-hyung's (Rain) character. I worked [very] hard filming this movie and you guys will be surprised."
