Asian pop sensation Rain [J.Tune Entertainment]
Multi-talented entertainer Rain has become the first Korean celebrity to score a win at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, according to his agency J. Tune Entertainment on Monday.
J. Tune announced in a press release that the singer and actor was named "Biggest Badass Star" at the awards ceremony, held Sunday (U.S. time) in Los Angeles.
Rain picked up MTV's signature popcorn trophy for his star turn in last year's martial arts pic "Ninja Assassin," beating out high-profile nominees such as Angelina Jolie, Channing Tatum, Chris Pine and Sam Worthington.
The star, who had previously said that he was happy just to even be attending the event, delivered the following message through the agency after his big win.
"I think everything I endured while shooting 'Ninja Assassin' is coming to fruition. I would like to thank the fans who have given me enormous support from the bottom of my heart," the actor was quoted as saying.
He has been busy building his career in Hollywood over the past few years, making his debut through the Wachowski Brothers' pic "Speed Racer" in 2008 and following it up with a lead role in "Assassin."
Last March, he scored a triple win at the Green Planet Movie Awards, picking up trophies for "10 Outstanding Asians in Hollywood," "Asian Cultural Ambassador of the Year" and "Best International Entertainer (Asia)."
Rain will be returning to Korea tomorrow evening.

Korean singer and actor Rain won the award for Biggest Badass Star at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, held yesterday at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
Rain is the first native Korean to ever win an award from MTV and the fourth Asian star to win one after Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan and Ken Jeong.
The Korean hallyu (Korean wave) star won the award for his role as Raizo in the movie “Ninja Assassin,” directed by the Wachowski Brothers, beating out Hollywood heavyweights such as Angelina Jolie, Chris Pine, Channing Tatum and Sam Worthington.
The Biggest Badass Star award is one of the new categories introduced in this year’s MTV Movie Awards. Actor Lee Byung-hun was also nominated but failed to make the final list.

Before his departure to the City of Angels, Rain commented that his participation in the MTV Movie Awards is meaningful and shows how far he has come.
As he accepted his award, he joked that he started working out when he heard he was nominated for the badass award.
Although Rain won a movie award, he is known in Korea and other Asian countries as a singer, dancer, actor and businessman.
He appeared in the film “I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK” in 2008, which won the Alfred Bauer Prize at the 59th Berlin Film Festival.
The same year, he was selected as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People Who Shape the World.
This year, he was nominated as one of the Top 10 Most Outstanding Asians in Hollywood. He has appeared in several popular Korean dramas.
The multitalented Korean star recently released his latest mini-album called “Back to Basic,” which included the tracks “Love Song” and “Hip Song.”
The MTV Movie Awards are a pop culture-focused fete, complete with prizes for such events as best kiss and best villain. This year’s event was hosted by stand-up comedian and actor Aziz Ansari.

Before I sign off for the night, I want to give a shout to one of the big surprises: Rain, who won Biggest Badass Star for his unbelievably physical performance in "Ninja Assassin." The movie isn't great film or anything, but it's a seriously good time and that's largely due to the great helpings of beatdown Rain passes around throughout. His acceptance speech falls a little flat, but give the guy a break-- he's a HUGE superstar in Asia, but English isn't his first language. I think he came off as totally affable and appreciative for the honor he received.

Movie Ninja Assassin has brought world Star Rain the best action star award at the MTV Movie Awards.
Rain received the Biggest Badass Star golden popcorn award at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on the 6th of June.
Rain was also able to say his comments for the award in English fluently.
Rain could not express his happiness and appreciation for his fans when he won the award and he would've been thankful enough for becoming one of the nominess for the award.
Rain could not pick out a rival because the other nominees were also very good actors and actresses in the industry and he was very proud to be able to participate in such an event and walk the red carpets.
The MTV Movie Awards are given out 100% through the voting polls online.

The British heartthrob wins Best Male Performance for his role in 'New Moon', while the Korean actor is dubbed Biggest Badass Star
After several female performers dominate the early winners of 2010 MTV Movie Award it is time for male stars to show their roars at the event. Robert Pattinson and Rain have just received a gong each for different categories.
The "Twilight" actor gets Best Male Performance prize for his portrayal of Edward Cullen in "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". He credits his co-star Kristen Stewart for his win while taking the award from presenters Jessica Alba and Vanessa Hudgens. As for Rain, the "Ninja Assassin" hunk is dubbed Biggest Badass Star.
Additionally, Tom Felton and Ken Jeong have also taken home the golden popcorn trophies from the awards show. The depicter of Draco Malfoy in "Harry Potter" film series is named Best Villain for his performance in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" while the comedian's nude scene in "The Hangover" helps him to win Best WTF Moment kudo.
Other winners of the 19th Annual MTV Movie Awards will be revealed soon as the show is currently held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California. Aziz Ansari hosts the ceremony which has Christina Aguilera among the musical performers.

Rain has done Korea proud by becoming the first native Korean to win an award from the MTV Movie Awards.
Rain had been nominated for the Biggest Badass Star award for his role as Raizo, the most lethal Special Forces Ninja assassin in Ninja Assassin and was up against Hollywood stars like Angelina Jolie, Chris Pine, Channing Tatum and Sam Worthington.
But he came away as the winner and spoke in fluent English with his short acceptance speech. He becomes the fourth Asian star after Lucy Liu,Jackie Chan and Ken Jeong to win an award from MTV. We congratulate him!

The Biggest Badass Star's Prize at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards has gone to Rain.
Rain's real performances in Ninja Assassin as a ninja seeking revenge for the murder of his friend has made him the first Korean to win the Biggest Badass Star honors in the history of MTV Movie Awards.
Rain stated his feelings about having received the award, speaking fluent English at the live awards ceremony held in LA's 'Gibson Amphitheatre', USA. on the 6th, at 9pm.
Rain has won the award in the face of stiff competition among 4 candidates such as 'Angelina Jolie', 'Channing Tatum', 'Christ Pine', and Samuel Worthington' except him.
As he has won the award, he's come to emerge as a next bona fide star in hollywood. Not only has Rain been privately honored with the award, but he's had the honor of contributing greatly to the development of Korea's movie industry.
Rain's agent expressed, "We're so proud of Rain who has let the whole world know his name again. He says that he will work harder, sending a big thank you to all his fans for their support."
His arrival time at Inchon Airport is 5:00pm on the 8th.

Before I sign off for the night, I want to give a shout to one of the big surprises: Rain, who won Biggest Badass Star for his unbelievably physical performance in "Ninja Assassin." The movie isn't great film or anything, but it's a seriously good time and that's largely due to the great helpings of beatdown Rain passes around throughout. His acceptance speech falls a little flat, but give the guy a break-- he's a HUGE superstar in Asia, but English isn't his first language. I think he came off as totally affable and appreciative for the honor he received.

Park Jaebeom recently left a message on twitter congratulating his fellow Korean Jung Ji Hoon (Rain) for being the first Korean to win an award in the MTV Movie Awards which was held last June 6 where Rain won "Biggest Badass Star" for his appearance in Ninja Assassin.

After several female performers dominate the early winners of 2010 MTV Movie Award it is time for male stars to show their roars at the event. Robert Pattinson and Rain have just received a gong each for different categories.
The "Twilight" actor gets Best Male Performance prize for his portrayal of Edward Cullen in "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". He credits his co-star Kristen Stewart for his win while taking the award from presenters Jessica Alba and Vanessa Hudgens. As for Rain, the "Ninja Assassin" hunk is dubbed Biggest Badass Star.
Additionally,Tom Felton and Ken Jeong have also taken home the golden popcorn trophies from the awards show.
