Singer/actor Rain has dropped out of an unspecified role in 20th Century Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix due to scheduling conflicts, according to South Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo (via SBS).

The news came from fellow actor Lee Beom Soo, who is currently filming a movie with Rain titled Uhm Bok-dong. Rain reportedly told the actor that he had to resign from the X-Men: Dark Phoenix role because Uhm Bok-dong, which Rain plays the titular lead character, is scheduled to film into August and the Fox X-Men film begins shooting in July.

Rain made his North American cinematic debut with a role in 2008's Speed Racer, and has since appeared in Ninja Assassin and The Prince.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is scheduled to be released November 2, 2018

X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Has Already Lost One Of Its Cast Members

We didn't even know that X-Men: Dark Phoenix has started the casting process, but a new report reveals that one of the movie's stars has been forced to drop out months before shooting begins.

Newsarama has spotted a recent report in a South Korean newspaper revealing that singer and actor Rain has been forced to drop out of X-Men: Dark Phoenix. It was his co-star in Uhm Bok-dong Lee Beom Soo who made the revelation when he mentioned that the actor had to drop out of the Marvel project.

Apparently, that's down to X-Men: Dark Phoenix shooting in July and that South Korean movie will be filming well into August. Annoyingly, no details on who Rain is supposed to play have been revealed.

Rain has appeared in Speed Racer, Ninja Assassin, and The Prince, so chances are it would have been more than just a minor role. There are any number of characters he could have been in the running for and it will be interesting to see who replaces him. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will likely be directed by Simon Kinberg and is going to be released next November. Who do you guys think Rain could be playing?

Rain said no to a spandex-wearing part in 'X-men'

We would've loved to see Rain be a superhero, but he had a good reason for turning down X-Men!

Rain is one of the most popular Korean actors these days, so it's no surprise that studios everywhere want him to star in every movie possible. While this is an enviable position to be in, it turns out Rain is quite humble with what he decides to work on, so much so that he turned down a part in the upcoming new "X-Men" movie!

In a new interview with actor Lee Beom Soo, Rain's co-star in the upcoming South Korean biographical film "Uhm Bok-dong," he revealed that working with Rain opened his eyes to just how humble and loyal his co-star actually is.

Not only did Lee Beom Soo note that Rain had grown into actor with unique aura, he praised his co-star's honesty and loyalty to his commitments, saying that Rain was actually cast in a role of an upcoming new "X-Men" movie. However, Rain turned the part down due to conflicting filming schedules with their current movie "Uhm Bok-dong," as "X-Men" was scheduled to start filming in July while "Uhn Bok-dong" is set to continue filming until August.

While it's a slight shame we won't get to see Rain dress up as a mutant in "X-Men," we're glad to hear that Rain is not only super-talented, but he's just a nice guy in general!
